Death Race Plows Through Theaters Unhindered

Death Race is about a prison where convicts are forced to race against each other. No rules; no reservations; winner gets his freedom. In the middle of it all is Jason Statham's character, an expert driver who just "happened to be imprisoned there." He gets pitted against the other convicts of course, and he gets his freedom for not just winning the race, but turning the tables on the bad guys who put him there in the first place.

It's raw, steely, violent, full of action, and plowed through theaters (where it was already shown) unhindered by fans drooling for the stylish action Statham is now famous for. Action movie buffs have given this one a high rating. That means it's good grip-your-seat entertainment.

Here's a little bit of trivia. In 1975, there was a movie also called Death Race 2000 which starred Sylvester Stallone and David Carradine. But it's about a cross-country car race where pedestrians are run down for sports. Definitely objectionable.
